Our History
More than 60 years of history
In 1960, the Casini brothers set up Ovattificio Maiano, a small family business specialising in the recovery and recycling of textile waste for upholstery.
A few years after Ovattificio Maiano was founded in 1960, the world's first plants for the industrial production of thermo-bonded felt from regenerated textile fibres were designed and installed. An absolute novelty that later became an indispensable component in the construction of spring mattresses.
The excellent results made it possible to invest heavily in equipment and technology, and fibre preparation, carding, thermo-bonding, needle punching, coating and resin coating lines were installed.
This rapid growth came to fruition in the second half of the 1970s when the company was transformed into a joint-stock company under the name Manifattura Maiano spa.
Over the years, the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of the owners has led to a diversification of the production activities and materials offered, which today allows the company to compete on international markets with a wide range of non-woven fabrics for the upholstery, footwear, insulation, automotive, agro-textile and industrial sectors.

Production Process
Continuous cycle production lines that allow every step of the process to be carried out in-house, from preparing the fibre to packaging the finished product.
A reference point in the non-wovens sector, and the first company in the world to design and install an industrial thermo-bonded felt plant, Manifattura Maiano now has a factory of over 15,000 square metres with state-of-the-art continuous cycle production lines that allow us to carry out every stage of the process in-house.
The flexibility of the equipment allows many types of fibres to be processed: natural and synthetic, virgin and recycled.

Today Manifattura Maiano manufactures in its own factories a wide range of felts, wadding and insulation in natural, synthetic and recycled fibres to pad, insulate or reinforce everyday objects.
The products are mainly intended for the furniture, footwear, construction, transport, industry and agro-textile sectors.

We are constantly creating new products and improving existing ones.
Thanks to the experience gained in the non-wovens sector, combined with advanced production facilities and an in-depth knowledge of the characteristics of textile fibres, the technical team designs innovative materials and applications for its customers.
The company has close contacts with universities and research institutes with which it carries out projects focusing on high-performance products with low environmental impact.
