Installation and Cutting Instructions Floors

Inter-storey slab with floating floor

  • Create a lightweight screed over the load-bearing structure that perfectly covers the systems, creating a flat surface free from irregularities;
  • Clean the installation surface and remove any processing residues;
  • Lay out the rolls of impact sound insulation on the installation surface, placing them perfectly next to each other and with the PE film facing upward. Seal the joints between the rolls with plasticized self-adhesive tape (such as Fascia Nastro ISOLMANT or Stick WP ISOLGOMMA). If two layers of impact sound insulation are required, lay the first with the PE film facing the surface of the floor and the second layer of material with the PE film facing upward. Be sure to lay the two layers with staggered joints. Seal the joints with self-adhesive tape (such as Fascia Nastro ISOLMANT or Stick WP ISOLGOMMA);
  • To separate the distribution screed from the corner perimeter strips of anti-vibration insulation along the entire perimeter of the room (such as perimeter strips from the ISOLMANT or ISOLGOMMA range), to a height that exceeds that of the finished floor;
  • The perimeter strips must also run along the door openings, pillars and any pipes, with the aid of pre-formed strips (such as ISOLMANT Corner/Edge/Door Frame or ISOLGOMMA Corner Profiles);
  • Make the distribution screed (traditional or self-leveling);
  • Lay the planned flooring;
  • Cut off the excess perimeter strip using a professional cutter (such as STANLEY MP018 Dynagrip);
  • Fix the skirting board a few mm above the level of the finished floor, possibly placing it on top of a skirting board cutting strip (such as TBTS ISOLMANT strip or Profyle Flat 1 ISOLGOMMA);
  • Seal the joint between the floor and the skirting board with elastic material.

Inter-storey attic with floating radiant floor

  • Create a lightweight screed over the load-bearing structure that perfectly covers the systems, creating a flat surface free from irregularities;
  • Clean the installation surface and remove any processing residues;
  • Lay out the rolls of impact sound insulation on the installation surface, placing them perfectly next to each other and with the PE anti-percolation film facing upwards;
  • Seal the joints between the rolls with plasticized self-adhesive tape (such as Fascia Nastro ISOLMANT or Stick WP ISOLGOMMA). If two layers of impact sound insulation are required, lay the first with the PE film facing the floor surface and the second layer of material with the PE film facing up. Be sure to lay the two layers with staggered joints. Seal the joints with self-adhesive tape (such as Fascia Nastro ISOLMANT or Stick WP ISOLGOMMA);
  • To separate the partition screed from the vertical structures (already plastered), place corner perimeter strips of anti-vibration insulation along the entire perimeter of the room (such as perimeter strips from the ISOLMANT or ISOLGOMMA range), at a height that exceeds that of the finished floor. The perimeter strips must also run along door openings, pillars, and any pipes, using pre-formed strips (such as ISOLMANT Corner/Edge/Door Frame or ISOLGOMMA Corner Profiles);
  • Lay the radiant system on top of the impact sound insulation, placing the preformed thermal insulation perfectly next to the perimeter strip;
  • Making the additive screed for panels;
  • Lay the planned flooring;
  • Cut off the excess perimeter strip using a professional cutter (such as STANLEY MP018 Dynagrip);
  • Fix the skirting board a few mm above the level of the finished floor, possibly placing it on top of a skirting board cutting strip (such as TBTS ISOLMANT strip or Profyle Flat 1 ISOLGOMMA);
  • Seal the joint between the floor and the skirting board with elastic material.

Inter-storey attic with floating parquet

Direct attenuation

  • Lay out the rolls of impact sound insulation on the installation surface (screed or existing floor), matching them perfectly. Make sure the impact sound insulation material is turned up vertically on the wall to a height greater than the finished floor level. The joints between the panels must be sealed with duct tape (such as ISOLMANT duct tape).
  • Lay the floating parquet as per the supplier's instructions;
  • Cut off the excess soundproofing material flush with the floor using a professional cutter with a large blade (such as the OLFA L-1 knife);
  • Lay the skirting board a few mm above the level of the finished floor, possibly placing it on top of a skirting board cutting strip (such as TBTS ISOLMANT strip or Profyle Flat 1 ISOLGOMMA);
  • Seal the joint between the floor and the skirting board with elastic material.

Attic on unheated floor with raised floor

  • Clean the installation surface and remove any processing residues;
  • Assemble the raised floor support structure as per the manufacturer's instructions, possibly placing a resilient material mat under the supports if not supplied by the raised floor manufacturer;
  • Lay the insulation panels dry, placing them in perfect contact with each other and well-adjusted to the supports of the floor support structure, in order to avoid the onset of thermal and acoustic bridges;
  • Lay out the systems adequately insulated;
  • Lay the flooring as per the manufacturer's instructions.

Non-walkable attic

Place the insulation panels/rolls on the top floor, placing them perfectly adjacent to each other, without any gaps. Avoid subjecting the panels to loads that could cause them to collapse and compromise their performance. If a double layer of insulation is required, position the panels with joints staggered with respect to those below.

Walkable attic

If the attic is accessible or accessible, lay a framework of joists on the floor surface, stiffened with crosspieces and 3 cm thicker than the panels. The joists should be spaced 1 cm apart from each other, less than the size of the panels, which should then be seated between the joists with light pressure. A wooden flooring can be nailed to the framework.
If a vapor barrier is required, install it before the insulation.
