Installation and Cutting Instructions Walls and Facades

Perimeter wall in double brick planking

  • Lay out the strip of anti-vibration sound insulation (such as ISOLMANT wall cutting strip);
  • Create the first brick layer by filling both the vertical and horizontal joints;
  • Apply a layer of roughcast to increase the mass and improve air tightness;
  • Insert the dry insulation panels into the cavity as you proceed with the second layer of flooring. Be sure to match the panels perfectly and arrange them with staggered joints. If there is a vapor barrier, seal the joints with self-adhesive tape (such as ISOLMANT Fascia Nastro or WÜRT Eurasol Nastro);
  • If an air gap is required, fix the insulating panels to the brickwork using adhesive mortar (such as Mapetherm AR1 MAPEI or Biocalce Cappotto KERAKOLL) applied in spots;
  • Make the second brick floor, carefully sealing the joints;
  • Apply the internal plaster and finishing layer.

Ventilated Facade

The ventilated facade is a technological solution that connects multiple components:

  • the supporting structure;
  • the supporting structure of the facade cladding;
  • the insulating material;
  • the ventilation chamber;
  • the facade cladding.

 

The market offers various solutions for the supporting structure of the cladding, also in relation to the material chosen for the protection and finish of the wall.
Consequently, the installation of insulation material, being closely linked to the type of substructure supporting the cladding, requires a specific assessment for each case. In light of this, the instructions for installing insulation material within the ventilated facade system will be general in nature:

  • Attach the supporting framework of the facade cladding to the load-bearing structure, creating a cavity of the desired thickness. Follow the supplier's instructions;
  • Secure the panels by placing them in perfect contact with the supporting structure, seamlessly joining them together. The details regarding the installation of the insulation material must be evaluated based on the type of load-bearing structure (wood, brick, etc.) and the type of substructure chosen for the façade system;
  • Fix the facade cladding according to the instructions.

Plasterboard partition wall

  • Lay a strip of anti-vibration sound insulation (such as ISOLMANT wall-cutting strip) along the entire length of the wall surface; create the support structure for the plasterboard panels according to the manufacturer's instructions;
  • Attach the first layer of plasterboard; Insert the insulation panels into the frame slightly forcing them into place, ensuring they adhere perfectly to the frame and avoiding the formation of thermal and acoustic bridges*;
  • Close the cavity with the second layer of plasterboard;
  • Seal the joints between the sheets according to the supplier's instructions and apply the finishing layer;
  • If skirting boards are to be installed, fix them a few mm above the level of the finished floor, sealing the joint with elastic material.

* It is recommended to place the vertical uprights at a distance a few mm less than the size of the insulating panel (e.g.: panel size 60 cm x 120 cm – upright centre distance equal to 59.5 cm).

Note:

To improve the soundproofing properties of the vertical partition, it is recommended to also lay the decoupling strip on the vertical uprights, thus eliminating any possible rigid connection between the structure and the plasterboard panels.
It is also recommended to lay the plasterboard panels not directly on the floor but at a distance of approximately 1 cm from it (depending on the flatness of the floor).

Lightweight false wall with plasterboard panels

  • Spread a strip of anti-vibration acoustic insulation (such as ISOLMANT wall cutting strip) over the entire length of the counter wall installation surface;
  • Spread a strip of anti-vibration acoustic insulation (such as ISOLMANT wall cutting strip) over the entire length of the counter wall installation surface;
  • Insert the insulation panels into the frame slightly forcibly, to make them adhere perfectly to the frame and avoid the onset of thermal and acoustic bridges*;
  • Mechanically fix the plasterboard sheets to the structure to close the cavity, taking care to mount them a few mm from the finished floor, sealing the joint with elastic material if necessary;
  • Seal the joints between the sheets according to the supplier's instructions and apply the finishing layer;
  • If skirting boards are to be installed, fix them a few mm above the level of the finished floor, sealing the joint with elastic material.
